That's a Wrap, Well, Afghan

I finally finished the afghan that I have been working on in between other projects. I decided to go with a simple border on it as it will be used on my couch.
Here it is in it's place.

Here it is as fully laid out as I could get it.

I am SO happy to finally finish it. I love the colors and think they compliment my couch, don't you?

Until next time!

TMNT Leonardo

My youngest grandson is 4 and totally nuts about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, also know as TMNT. He asked me awhile back if I could make him a TMNT and he wanted Leonardo, which is his favorite. I told him that I knew of a pattern and that I would try to make him one. The pattern that I used is by Nichole's Nerdy Knots on Ravelry. This pattern is easy to follow and very well written.

It has taken me a few weeks to crochet this, working on his TMNT off and on. During this time my grandson and I have been having discussions about his Leonardo and I've been showing him pictures of it in progress. Last week he informed me that he wanted the other TMNT too.

I made the head moveable and it was really easy to do. So much easier than stitching all the way around the head. See this previous post for more info on making the head moveable.

Here's the finished Leonardo. I haven't given it to my grandson yet, but I hope he loves it. His mom and I think he will 😀

TMNT Leonardo In Progress

I've been working on this little guy for about a week, off and on. Who likes stitching all the way around and still winding up with a wobbly head? Not me! I recently found a tutorial on how to easily attach a head. I decided that I would use that technique on this TMNT that I'm making for my youngest grandson, who, BTW, informed me that he wants me to make him one of EACH of the TMNT. LOL. Anyway, here it is with the head attached.

I must say that this technique demonstrated by By Hook, By Hand is SO easy to do and is what I will be doing from now on as far as attaching heads. Check it out!

Giraffe Amigurumi

I recently made contact with a designer through one of the Facebook groups that I belong to. He was looking for testers for one of his new patterns, a giraffe amigurumi. I fell in love with his giraffe and jumped at the chance to test it for him. He agreed and sent me the info so I could get started on it.

I picked up the yarn that I would need and started working on it. I used 2 different color strands of yarn together and a 6mm hook. I wanted the giraffe to be big. Well, it sure is. After over a week of working on it, I finally finished the giraffe yesterday. After photographing it, I sent the photos off to the designer and asked for approval to post this on my blog, which he granted. I did do my own thing with it, changing colors and some details, and I sculpted the muzzle a bit to give it more of a mouth. But the pattern is his and he loves what I did with it.

The designer is Tim of Tim's Creations.

Here is my large version of his giraffe.

She is definitely big, she is 17 in. tall sitting. I didn't have big enough safety eyes so I crocheted some whites and attached the safety eyes and crocheted eyelids for her. I think she needs eyelashes and I'm debating on how to do that.

Here she is from the side. You can see how the muzzle is shaped a bit. I totally winged it there, not having much sculpting experience, and I think it turned out pretty good. The mane was fun to do, it reminded me of my rug-hooking days.

Here she is from behind.

I am quite pleased with how she turned out and I hope the intended recipient loves her as much as I do.

If you'd like to make a giraffe from this pattern click on this link: Giraffe Stuffie by Tim's Creations. The giraffe pattern is in his photo albums.

Thanks again Tim for allowing me to test your giraffe.

Dead Laptop Slow Progress

My laptop has died. It won't connect to the internet. It's old as the hills and not worth spending the money to replace the network ...
