New LOOK For the Blog

As you can probably tell, I've been playing around with the blog. I saw that Blogger had come out with some new themes and I liked the setup of this one. Of course I had to make a new banner to match. I like how streamlined this theme is. I think I'll keep it.

Elephant Amigurumi

My eldest granddaughter loves elephants. When I was trying to figure out what to make next she suggested an elephant. I wonder why? LOL. Anyway, I had her pick the color of yarn from 3 shades that I had enough of and she chose this lovely shade of light purple called "Orchid" from Red Heart. I have been working on the elephant for a few days now and finally finished her up tonight.  Here she is.

The pattern is one of Sharon Ojala's, it's called Little Bigfoot Elephant.
I just LOVE Sharon's patterns and plan to do more of them. Her videos are very detailed and informative.

This is the first time that I've used safety eyes. I just got a box last week and they are pretty easy to use. The pattern didn't call for hair, but as usual I had to change things up a bit. Baby elephants have fuzzy hair on top of their heads so this one needed some.

Don't you just love her pink toes? I improvised on the tongue as it called for felt and I didn't have any. I used pink yarn and made it smaller than the mouth. I think it worked out just fine.

Here's a view of her behind. I love her tail.

I hope that my granddaughter loves her elephant. She'll be coming down for a visit in a few weeks and I can't wait to see her.

Well, I guess I'll work on my afghan for a few days until inspiration hits me. I'm about 3/4 of the way finished with the length of the afghan, so there's a ways to go yet.

Spring has sprung in my neck of the woods. Flowers and trees are blooming everywhere. It sure is nice to be able to walk the dog and not have to bundle up.

Birthday Bunny

My youngest granddaughter turned 8 years old the other day. We had her birthday party last night. I had finished this bunny for her a few weeks ago and have been wanting to post about it, but didn't want to chance her seeing it. She had asked me for a bunny awhile back, when the two of us were looking through patterns. This bunny is loosely based on the Chloe bunny pattern by Tarturumies.
I decided to make the bunny a gray one because white would get dirty too quickly. I used half round button eyes, sculpted around the eyes a bit and colored her inner ears and cheeks with blush.

Back to the birthday party. We had a great time, a bunch of her friends came as well as family. Kayleigh got loads of presents and mine was the very last one that she opened. Just look at her face when she pulled it out of the bag.

You can see that she loves her new bunny. She told everyone that I made it with my own hands. 💖 I sure love that sweet ginger-haired girl.

Now on to getting these bunnies shipped to their new owners.

Next project? A Flash inspired hotpad and coaster for my SIL.
