Bunny Amigurumi Project

I have a problem, I'll admit it. I'm addicted to crochet and I'm easily sidetracked by new projects. Especially cute little bunnies 😀 I found this Pretty Bunny Amigurumi pattern and I just HAD to make her. Click on the link and you'll see why. Okay, you're probably wondering what amigurumi is. According to Wikipedia "Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures." I LOVE amigurumi and belong to several amigurumi groups as well as several crochet groups on Facebook.
Now, mind you, I've only been crocheting for not quite 2 years and I've only crocheted one amigurumi before. It was a reindeer that I made for my youngest daughter for Christmas 2015, which didn't turn out too bad, considering it was my first.
I've been working on my bunny for several days now. She's not done yet but I wanted to share her with you. She needs another arm, her tail, then sewn together. I still have to make her big bow in front of her ears, dress and shoes. Here's what she looks like so far.....

She's laid out on my table in this photo and she measures 18 in. tall from the tip of her ears to her toes. I can't wait to get her finished. She'll be getting her arm and tail today and hopefully sewn together. I'll update again when I get further along with her. I'm going to have to come up with a name for her. Any suggestions???????

New Tri-Color Messy Bun Hat and Afghan Progress

I finished a messy bun hat for a friend yesterday and I am quite pleased with how it looks. She had seen photos of the afghan that I've been working on and loved the colors in it so much that she asked me to make her a messy bun hat in those colors. I think this is the prettiest messy bun hat that I've made yet.

I delivered it to her yesterday and she loved it. What do you think?

I'm still working on my afghan. Here's what it looks like this morning, hastily placed on the carpet, so it's not laying perfectly straight.

I love how the variegated yarn is making a pattern of sorts. No trick here, it's just the way the yarns striping works out.

A closer view

Well, back to work on the afghan, unless I get side-tracked with another project that is.

Toothbrush Storage Solution

I live alone, in an apartment, which limits what I can do storage wise. I don't like clutter on my bathroom sink. Heck, I don't like clutter anywhere really. Old age does that to you. When you get to be my age you want to be able to find what you're looking for without looking through a pile of stuff LOL. Anyway, I have been wanting to find something to keep my toothbrush in, besides the plastic travel case that I've been keeping it in, inside my medicine chest. It's an extra step, open medicine chest, locate toothbrush case, then open it and take out the toothbrush. I considered buying a toothbrush holder, you know, the kind that sits on your sink and holds several toothbrushes? Well, my one toothbrush would look kind of lonely in something like that I thought and it would also be something I'd have to buy. Hmmmm, scratching my head and thinking a bit, I came up with a solution that not only keeps it off the counter, but out of sight as well.

Here's my solution:

Here's a closer view.

This only works if you have a medicine cabinet with a smooth surface on the inside of the door. You might be able to adapt this idea elsewhere, like on a mirror, it's up to you.
All you need for each toothbrush are 2 plastic suction cup hooks, like the kind you use in your windows to hold up suncatchers and stuff. Not the small suction cup hooks but the bigger ones that they sell. I had bought a pack of them at the dollar store awhile back and had several hanging around in my junk drawer. I positioned one on the inside of the medicine cabinet door, hook side at the bottom of course, making sure that it wouldn't interfere with the shelves or closing the door. Then I put the business end of my toothbrush in it and held the handle end of the toothbrush to figure where to place the second suction cup hook. Easy peasy solution to my problem! It's SO easy to do and with the toothbrush hanging with the bristle side down it will dry quickly.

Until next time!

Dead Laptop Slow Progress

My laptop has died. It won't connect to the internet. It's old as the hills and not worth spending the money to replace the network ...
