Curtain Finished and Hung

I mentioned in a previous post that I was working on a curtain for my small dining room window. Well I finally finished it this evening and hung it up. I really like how it looks. It covers up that mini blind and significantly cuts down on the light that shines through the window at night from the security light outside my door. Here's a photo of the curtain hung in the window.

What do you think of it? I did a solid panel curtain as I will never open the blind or the curtain because the window faces the elevator. Can't have folks peering in my window as they're walking down the hall, right?

The welcome plaque above the curtain is one that I made for my parents years ago. I think it looks good above the window and along with the curtain, adds a pop of color.

Now I can get on with my next project, curtain tie-backs for the living room curtains.

Until next time!

Progress on Granny Square Afghan and More

I moved into my apartment last Friday and I am settling in nicely. I have SO much space! It's nice to have closets to store my things in. I'm more organized than I have been in years and it feels great!

My little dog Marty took a few days to get used to getting on & off the elevator but he's fine with it now. He loves our walks around the apartment complex and so do I. Yesterday evening while we were out walking we came around the back of the building and I looked over towards the picnic area and spied these guys.

They stood still as statues while I stood there snapping photos. They didn't take their eyes off Marty even though he was oblivious to their presence. He had been on the trail of a bunny I think, and he's more of a scent than sight motivated "hunter". His "hunting" consists of sniffing and wagging his tail when he's on a scent. He's just a little chihuahua but I think that sometimes he thinks he's a hunting dog LOL.

I took Marty back upstairs to the apartment and quietly walked down the steps at the end of the building where the deer were so I could snap these pictures. There were 3 of them there then.

It was a doe and her two young ones. Yes, the one in the middle is a young buck. His antlers were velvet, of course, and he shook his head as he watched me a minute, warning me not to come any closer. He never stomped his foot though.

I enjoyed seeing them and will definitely keep an eye out for them as we go on our walks.

What have I been up to with my crocheting? Well, here's a photo of my kitchen towel hanging on my stove along with 2 of my potholders.

I've been working on this granny square afghan for awhile now. I've put it aside for now as I'm currently working on another project that is needed more than the afghan at this time. I've got a good way to go yet on the afghan but here it is in it's current state.

What am I currently working on?? A curtain panel to cover my small front window that faces the balcony. I have a mini blind there now, which I'm not fond of and I think it needs something to cover the blind. Here's what I've got so far for the curtain.

The rod pocket is already made (at top of photo) and that was easier to do than I thought it would be. No sewing either, all crocheted. When I get the curtain to the length that I need I will use the dark brown and single crochet around the bottom and the 2 sides to give it a finished look. Of course I'll update again when I'm finished.

I've already got another small project lined up to crochet after the curtain is finished. I'll be making tie-backs for my living room curtains. Well I better get busy!

Until next time!

Kitchen Towel for New Apartment

I am SO excited!!! I have finally managed to get an apartment and will be moving in next week! It's a nice sized 1 bedroom with loads of storage space and it's been completely renovated with new linoleum in kitchen and bath, new carpet throughout, new cabinets and sinks and stove. I love it and can't wait to get moved in.

I ran across a post in Facebook that had the link to crochet a pretty kitchen towel that you can hang that will look real cute on my stove.  The pattern is called "Contrast Kitchen Hand Towel" and it's by The Yarn and Hook.  I saved the link to my Ravelry library so I could find it later and just yesterday finished making it. I used leftover yarn from my kitchen rug and potholders & such to make it. Here's a photo.

I trimmed the entire towel in white to make the colors pop. Here's a photo of it hanging on my daughter's stove.

Now I have to make one for my daughter as her kiddos are forever knocking down her regular hand towel. This should solve that problem. Back to hooking!

Until next time!

Dead Laptop Slow Progress

My laptop has died. It won't connect to the internet. It's old as the hills and not worth spending the money to replace the network ...
