Scrapghan Finished and Florida Trip

I finally finished my "scrapghan", YAY! I brought it with me to work on while I was visiting my brothers and sister-in-laws who live in Florida. I've been here a little over 2 weeks and will be leaving tomorrow to head to Tucson, AZ to visit my best friend from high school. I can't wait to see her!!!

Anyway, here's a couple photos of the "scrapghan".

It was my first time with a crocheted shell border and I'm pleased with how it turned out.
Here's another view:

I also made some covers for floor sweepers. They are 100% cotton, wash and dry, and fit nicely in the grabber corners of the sweeper.

I've really enjoyed my time here in Florida. I've been to Clearwater, Green Key, and Sunset beaches. Sunset Beach is my favorite. Here's a few photos.

Cormorants hanging out on the rocks, drying their wings.

I also went fishing several times in the river with my younger brother. He was nice enough to let me catch all of the fish, we were running 3 rods. Several times I had to run to catch the rods before they went into the water.  Here's a couple photos of where we were fishing:

I love the Spanish moss hanging from the trees.

Here's a few of the fish that I caught:

A good eating sized catfish.

Yep, that's me, holding that bowfin. I caught a 24 in. one the week before, this one was almost that big. I lost one at the bank that was even bigger than that though. It was so big and heavy that it broke the hook before I could get it ashore.

I've had a blast here in Florida. I'll miss being with my brothers and sis-in-laws, and I love them to pieces for putting up with me while I was here, but there's plenty to do on my bucket list.  I'll be packing up the car early in the morning and Marty, my little chihuahua, and I will be heading to Tucson. I'll be taking plenty of photos along the way and will blog when I can.

Until next time!

Bathroom Rug Finished

My daughter was in need of a small bathroom rug for in front of the tub, so I whipped one up for her. I used 2 strands of yarn and half double crochet so that it would be nice and thick. It didn't take me long to do, I worked on it off and on during the course of  two days. It's a little difficult working with 2 strands at the same time, for me anyway. I originally started working it in green and blue, then I saw that the green was getting low so I switched it out for a variegated color for a bit and then switched back to the green to finish it. I did the border in turquoise blue.
We picked up some of that shelf liner non-slip material at the dollar store, cut a piece to go under it, and it keeps the rug from slipping.
Here's what the rug looks like.

I finished the purple on my "scrapghan". Now I have to pick up a skein of black so I can finish the border. I think I'm going to start working on some sunflower coasters in the meantime.

Until next time!

Dead Laptop Slow Progress

My laptop has died. It won't connect to the internet. It's old as the hills and not worth spending the money to replace the network ...
